Samsung Galaxy A80 isn't just a good phone but it's a good phone to show off to friends. Trust me you won't get any negative feedback from them.

There's so much to say about it, but I will walk you through the most important things about this phone.
Samsung Galaxy A80 is one of the newly released top-range series, there's much to say about, apart from the fascinating party piece camera.

It also has a display of 6.7inch Full HD+ display, which is quite amazing, an octa-core chipset, a battery of 3,700mAh ( pretty good for heavy users), 128GB of storage and a fingerprint scanner being in-display. Even with that, the Samsung Galaxy A80 still has some amazing features you'll get to see as we walk you through it.

Release Date

We all are awaiting this amazing phone because of its exclusive features. It is set to release on 29 of May, in some countries around the world.  You may now ask, won't it arrive everywhere?  The answer is,  No! It won't arrive everywhere at the same time, keeping that aside Samsung hasn't revealed the countries yet.

Design & Display
Isn't A One-handed Phone
Pop-up Camera

It has a premium glass design with a metal frame that runs around its circumference which makes it easy to grip. Samsung Galaxy A80 is quite big and thick which makes it hard to hold with one hand,  it's measurement being at 165.2 x 765 x 9.3mm. The power switch lies at the right side of the phone while the volume being the opposite, i.e left side, the buttons are easy to hit, they are not hard at all. Not to forget, the pop-camera is also a little top heavy.
Even though it not out for sale at the moment, the colors are common, black, white and gold.  Trust me you'll love to see it in gold color, though everyone has its own taste.

Not to surprise you much, the SIM tray is at the base, even though Galaxy A80 doesn't have a headphone jack. There are the USB-C port and a down-firing speaker.

The fascinating thing about this phone is the pop-up camera, as the phone rise up you'll see the sections having the same width when you switch to the selfie mode while making use of the default camera app.

It's fun seeing the smooth rise and subsequent spin of this amazing Galaxy A80 triple camera block. It does the same thing when raised and lowered, isn't that fascinating.

Even though the feature might wear off as time goes on, but trust me it'll still put a smile on your face each time it flips around and pop-up to face you.

Now there's something to worry about, seeing Oppo Find X having similar camera qualities with Galaxy A80. We have to look into it and ask how durable it is?  Seeing that one have to drop the phone probably on a table or something else, but won't it affect the moving bodywork of the camera?  We hope not, because the complexity of the flipping camera might break while dropping. It'll also be a bit difficult to fix a case which helps to protect so you might have to be a bit careful if you're to use Samsung Galaxy A80.

Hence, the pop-up camera provides an all-screen display in which by any means it doesn't interrupt.

It's so surprising to see an in-display fingerprint scanner which has been reserved for well equipped and famous devices, it also has a bezel which is narrow as possible with a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 which is quite good for Netflix streamers and Gamers.  It has a Super AMOLED panel which makes it bright enough, colorful and clear.

Camera
Rotating Camera
Excellent Live Focus

You may ask what's the point of the rotating camera? It's there so you can utilize the same excellent camera at back (rear camera) or front (selfie camera). It's very common to other Android manufacturers that they give nice rear cameras and average front camera, but Galaxy A80 is an exemption.
Samsung cares about it a lot because they want to give their users the best live video content, so it makes a lot of sense to get the best camera experience.

The sensor for the default camera the 48MP(f/2.0) which is always available when the camera app is open, it is very easy to switch between the ultra-wide (123 degrees)  and the 8MP(f/2.2) which helps you to fit into your shot more.

Not to forget, the third camera is a 3D depth sensor which gives nice blur on backgrounds for Live Focus mode which automatically de-focuses the background of the shots you take while keeping the foreground of the shot you take in focus, this feature isn't quite different from Apple products (iPhone).

The Live Focus mode is excellent because of its background blurring while shooting video, which helps for excellent visual extensions.  It also allows its users to adjust the blur level and shows the live preview before hitting the shutter button.

Though this mode is only available when using the setup as rear cameras not the front camera (selfie) and it's also the same for the super slow motion mode.

Battery & Specs
Large Battery Capacity
Non-expandable Storage

Samsung Galaxy A80 has a battery capacity of 3,700mAh and it also supports fast charging of 25W. It also has an octa-core chipset.

Its storage capacity is quite big enough to store whole lots of video, games, apps, and photos even though it not expandable. Its storage capacity is 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage, for those who download very large apps and videos you may want to keep a watch at the space.

The feel and look aren't any different from the Galaxy S10 & S10+. It runs on Android 9 with a User Interface (UI)  of Samsung One.

It performs quite good for heavy phone users which doesn't even lag at all, but who knows, maybe the older it is, it may start to lag. It runs large Apps smoothly without any problems which are quite good for gamers.

Verdict

The pop-up camera is an eye-catching feature, Samsung has really packed lots of sophisticated features on the A80. With all these packed features we really expect it to be quite expensive, with the large display and rotating camera block.

We appreciate your time going through our review on Samsung Galaxy A80.
